Victorian Popular Culture
Die Datenbank bietet Zugriff auf vielfältiges Quellenmaterial zur populären Unterhaltung (popular culture) in Amerika, Großbritannien und Europa im Zeitraum von 1779 bis 1930, der Viktorianischen Epoche. Das Material umfasst (seltene) Bücher und Zeitschriften, Ephemera, Plakate, Spielpläne, Fotos und Illustrationen. Zudem gibt es eine Reihe von Videoclips, die die Unterhaltungskultur zu Beginn des Kinos dokumentieren.
Die Quellensammlung ist in vier Module unterteilt:
- Spiritualism, Sensation and Magic;
- Circuses, Sideshows and Freaks;
- Music Hall, Theatre and Popular Entertainment sowie
- Moving Pictures, Optical Entertainments and the Advent of Cinema.
